MODERN-DAY ADVENTURER

The Haskell was designed with the modern day adventurer in mind, whether an urban wanderer, working through the bustling city commute, or a world traveller trekking through new environments; the Haskell is designed to be with you every step of the way.

Where will it take you?

BRITISH EXPLORATION

On the 1st November 1911 Captain Robert Falcon Scott set out on the Terra Nova Expedition to reach the South Pole. Eleven weeks later the naval officer became the first British explorer to ever reach the pole, but sadly perished on his return journey.

The world was informed of the tragedy when Terra Nova reached land in New Zealand over a year later. Within days, Scott became a celebrated hero and national icon.

The Haskell was inspired by such British exploration, and is named after the Haskell Strait, the ocean passage which Scott crossed as he set off from Ross Island in Antarctica.

THE BEATING HEART

We have specified the dependable Swiss Made Sellita SW-215-1 manual winding mechanical movement for the Haskell. It’s a petite movement at 25.6mm in diameter, a mere sliver at 3.35mm thick and when fully wound will run for over 40 hours.

Despite this small frame, the SW-215-1 still beats at a brisk 28,800 bph; the running seconds hand moves around the dial at 8 beats per second. Compared to a quartz watch running at one beat per second, the Haskell displays a gloriously buttery smooth sweep to its running second hand.

Calling Card

We like to make a big statement about the other side of our watches. For the Haskell, we used it to celebrate the spirit of adventure and reference the origin of its name.

The outer polished ring is engraved with information and, in a first for Marloe, sequential numbering. The inner section is gently domed to represent the globe, with an engraved and sand-blasted map showing Antarctica; at the very centre of the map coordinates lies the South Pole; one of the greatest of all adventures.

sweating the small stuff

The Haskell Green comes in our brand new watch box. A monolithic black cuboid opens up to reveal the beautifully crafted booklet, detailing how the Haskell came to be. Lifting the booklet reveals yet more; the letterpressed, hand-stamped collector's card sits within a precision cut recess and displays a quick reference guide on the reverse. The tray that holds the booklet and card can be removed revealing the Haskell below; don't forget to look on the underside of the tray, for it holds the phrase so deeply connected to Marloe.

HOW MARLOE BECAME AN ESTABLISHED BRITISH BRAND

In 2015, a simple twist of fate brought together the two founders of Marloe Watch Company. Oliver & Gordon were intrigued by design, the slow-living counter culture, and beautiful mechanical watches - within a year, the first Marloe watch was created, and Marloe Watch Company was born.

Marloe design watches that they’re proud of, made by manufacturing partners who over the years have also become friends. Honest watches made with care and attention - unpretentious, proven quality.
