Release date: July 2025

In July 1925, Sir Malcolm Campbell walked onto Pendine Sands on the south coast of Wales, stepped into the Sunbeam 350HP motor car, and launched himself down the 7-mile stretch of beach to set the world land speed record.

Celebrating the vehicle that carried Sir Malcom to glory, setting the course of a lifetime of speed chasing, the Sunbeam Pendine sports a glorious metallic flecked blue, matched closely to the car itself. Only 350 pieces of the Pendine will be made, and each will come in a spectacular presentation case that includes a small sample of an original part from the Sunbeam 350HP car.

CENTENARY

100 years after Sir Malcolm Campbell set a new land speed record of 150.766 mph on Pendine Sands in his Sunbeam 350HP, we celebrate the centenary with a very special, limited edition watch, in partnership with the National Motor Museum and The Campbell Family Heritage Trust.

The Devil is in the detail

For the Sunbeam we really wanted to enhance the connection with the automotive world by using glossy, metallic car-paints on the dials. A subtle contrasting accent colour is found on key points around the dial, with a running seconds, radial textured sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a power reserve at 6 o’clock, showing exactly how much power is held in the mainspring - illustrated by a fun empty/full fuel gauge. The hand shapes are all taken directly from the Sunbeam 350HP’s instruments and feature polished, domed profiles with luminous fill in the apertures.

And last but not least, an applied brass ‘MARLOE’ logo adorns the clear position at 3 o’clock - a new departure for us, and apt for such a magnificent partnership.

Inspired by History

The hands on the Sunbeam range are inspired by the various gauges and dials on the Sunbeam 350HP car.

WRIST PRESENCE

Resembling an early converted pocket watch, the Sunbeam’s case is a rounded, polished pebble of beautiful tactility. Unlike those pocket watches that featured welded wire lugs, the lugs here are more mechanical, engineered in a way that resembles the more rudimentary machining abilities of the era. Measuring a comfortable 40mm in diameter and 12mm thick, the Sunbeam has great wrist presence whilst remaining subtle and unobtrusive.
