Inspired by the quiet beauty of the West Highlands and the slow mastery of whisky making, this watch pays tribute to a distillery where every drop tells a story.

DESIGN DETAILS

Matching the paper-white labels of Ardnamurchan Distillery's core range whisky, the Glenbeg White features a smooth white dial with copper and Slate-blue markings. The dial features applique, taking inspiration from the cask ends at Ardnamurchan, where the wooden staves meet against the cask end, forming the sealed vessel that matures their whisky.

Ardnamurchan paint their cask ends, and so we've used those shapes and colours to represent the casks lying in stow, sleeping soundly until the whisky inside is ready to be released.

CASK ENDS

The indices take inspiration from the cask ends at Ardnamurchan, where the wooden staves meet against the cask end, forming the sealed vessel that matures their whisky.

THE PERSUADER

The hour and minute hands are a reference to the tool used to extract the bungs from the casks. The polished hairline seconds hand features a copper valinch inspired counterweight.

PARTNERSHIP

The Glenbeg White features an internally printed Ardnamurchan motif on the case back, beautifully encapsulating the resonant partnership between Marloe and Ardnamurchan Distillery.

Ardnamurchan Distillery, nestled on Scotland’s remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula, is dedicated to making single malt Scotch whisky using the lightest-touch approach to distilling, including adding value to co-products and empowering a realistic and tangible circular economy. Distilled into a Watch

The case is designed to feel as though it would be at home in a distillery, with a subtly barrel-shaped profile and unique still hatch design on the caseback, exhibiting the beautiful Miyota 9039 movement within. Sapphire crystal with 5 layers of blue AR coating is used for the main crystal, with sapphire uncoated for the rear. To complete the feel of distillery equipment, the Glenbeg White features a valve crown design, sealed to offer 100m water resistance.

Not my first Marlowe, but probably the watch I currently wear the most. It sits comfortably (milanese strap) and is well sized for my wrist. Just a couple of minor negatives for me - the copper highlighting on the face, is just a little too “rose gold” for my personal tastes, but it’s not in your face. The other is the case back crystal being obscured by the Ardnamurchan text; I would have preferred the text to be an engraving on the watch-back surround, or on the rotor perhaps, as I feel it obscures the movement. Both minor points but which I think detract a little from a beautiful watch.
